Some big stories today, 2 involving Nigel McKenna of Melview…. One is the success of freeholding in the Beaumont Quarter, the other a questionmark over development of the town centre at Flat Bush…..

At Manukau City yesterday, councillors came away from a session with submitters wondering if they’d done the right thing by the small Beachlands settlement over the years, but with little time to change course…. And it was an opportunity for the country’s 2 major supermarket chains to enter another chapter in the supermarket wars….
Up at Warkworth, that trade competition battle has been on in earnest, and will see Progressive’s application for consent for a supermarket become the first to go directly to the Environment Court….
And in the affairs of former BNZ economist & financial advisor Donal Curtin, I’ve run the story in the Regulation patch of this website – it seems the Securities Commission is both tardy & soft in enforcement concerning its own affairs, and concerning the public perception of it….
